Except as noted this gun is the equiv. of a barn find if it were a car. It is in almost new original condition; it does not have handling marks, the only scratches we can see are on the left side of the butt stock near the butt plate or loss of blue or carry wear or other EXCEPT the last 1 3/4" of the outside of the barrel where it somehow got wet and is pitted in this area. Options would be to clean it up with emory and cold blue or to have this section removed with the bead re installed and it would be a 26" barrel and not the 28" that it is. We can have this done for an addtional 150.00 or it can be done at home buy the buyer.
Other than this, this gun could really not be in much nicer cond....not kiidding.
Barrel is marked MOD (if shortened some of the choke would come out and some would remain)
As a 1953 Gun this may represent the finest quality of materials and workmanship to have come from Winchester. We have a friend in the business who is in a sense Gun Royalty with a father and grandmother who worked at Winchester and Remington. It is believed that metalurgy improved following WW11 and the work ethic of returning GI's and the work force in general at the time made this era know of quality more than the pre war guns that are so often sought after
