Description: Up for sale is a Smith & Wesson Model 3 American chambered in .44 S&W. This revovler has a 8" barrel, with strong rifling and good shine, but the bore is pretty well pitted. The top latch spring is missing. "...butt serial number 316 was shipped from our Stockbridge Street factory on February 19, 1871. It was delivered to M W Robinson, New York City our largest distributor at the time. The records indicate that this revolver was shipped with a blue finish with an 8-inch barrel with a German silver round blade front sight inserted and pinned in the barrel rib. The rear sight was a notch cut in the in the stop lug of the barrel catch, with smooth walnut square butt stocks. It was part of a large order to Robinson.
