From 2005 – 2014, Sig Sauer manufactured the Mosquito, Sig’s compact 22LR pistol that was similar to the P226. Our pistol (serial number F132777) was manufactured during the 2011 run.
The Mosquito has a polymer frame and composite grips. It operates in both double action and single action and has a decocker on the left side of the frame, along with an ambi safety. A pic rail sits underneath the 4 inch barrel for attachment of the accessory of your choice. The rear sight is adjustable and the front sight is fixed. Sights are a 3 dot setup using high visibility yellow dots.
The pistol does look very similar to the P226, just a lot lighter and a lot less expensive.
We would guess that this pistol hasn’t seen heavy use. It has a nice, clean bore and a very bright barrel. The grips are in Excellent condition and show very little wear. The frame and slide are Very Good with only light signs of use.
Overall, this is a very nice example of a German manufactured Sig Sauer rimfire pistol that isn’t expensive to buy and isn’t expensive to shoot. It’s just plain fun and there’s nothing wrong with that at all.
Purchase includes the pistol, (1) 10 round Sig magazine, original box, additional spring and owner’s manual.
