Description:
In fair condition, This LeFever Nitro Special 16 gauge is a popular and durable vintage side-by-side shotgun manufactured by the Ithaca Gun Company from 1921 to 1947. It is known as a reliable "working man's gun" rather than a high-end collector's item. Key Features & Specifications The Nitro Special is a boxlock action shotgun with a design focused on utility and durability. Manufacturer: Although marked "LeFever Arms Co.", these shotguns were produced by the Ithaca Gun Company after they purchased the LeFever name in 1916. Gauge/Chambers: It is chambered for the standard 16 gauge with 2 3/4-inch shells in most years (early models had 2 9/16-inch chambers, so check the specific gun's manufacture date). Action: Side-by-side (SxS) with a boxlock action and extractors (not ejectors). Triggers: Features double triggers. Safety: An automatic tang safety is a standard feature; opening the action engages the safety. Barrels: Commonly found with 28-inch fluid-steel barrels, though 26-inch barrels were also an option. Typical chokes were Modified/Full. Stock: Plain black walnut stock with a checkered pistol grip and fore-end. Engraving: Features a simple, roller-stamped flying goose game scene on both sides of the receiver. 16 Gauge
