Description: General Specs: Webley & Scott, c1918, .22 Long Rifle, 43oz. 6 7/8" Serial Number: 349422 Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer this unique British revolver conversion; the Webley revolver was adopted as the British service revolver in 1887 and served that role until 1963. The Mk VI was adopted in 1915 and served with distinction throughout The Great War. The Webley Revolvers earned the moniker of the “Webley Self-Extracting Revolver” for its top break action which ejects spent casings, thus quickening reloads. This example, serial number 349422 was manufactured circa 1918, is equipped with a Parker-Hale cylinder and “Parkerfield” rifled liner, which converts the Webley to fire .22 long rifle. Originally chambered in .455 caliber, some guns were later converted to .22LR for lower cost training although the recruit would still qualify with the full power cartridge. This Mk VI is in great overall condition, displaying excellent-shiny bores with strong rifling. The barrel and frame show 96% factory finish. The frame, barrel and cylinder have matching serial numbers, and military broad arrows signifying government ownership, with the gun well covered in acceptance stamps – as is the British fashion! This is a rare and seldom seen conversion, if you have a Webley collection or just starting one this historical gun would make a great center piece. A great choice for World War 1 collectors or those who just like unique revolvers.
