Merkel. Model 201 E O/U Shotgun with custom rifle barrels and scope. Cal 20gax20ga and 30-06X30-06. Original 20ga 26 3/4 demi-bloc bbls are fitted with matted, ventilated rib, and have Merkel name and address on left rear and retailers address (W. Glaser Zurichon right. Bottom bbl is stamped with German nitro proofs with proof date of 6/53. 24" custom O/U rifle barrels are fitted with quarter rib holding one standing U-notch rear sight, and Buhler scope mount base. Front sight ramp has blank dovetail. Left breech area is engraved. "H.J.D Herstahl Belgium", right rear "Compound Nitro Steel Caps". And are stamped with Belgian nitro proofs with date stamp for 1955. Coin finished Action features non-automatic tang safety, pin type cocking indicators on sides, and single selective trigger. Action is engraved with 40% coverage well cut scroll surrounding scenes of dogs and game: Setter flushing a pair of birds on left, and a nye of pheasant on the right. Makers name and address is stamped on trigger plate. Lightly figured and streaked European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 13-7/8" Pachmayr white line rifle pad. Standard point pattern checkering on the grip. Each bbl set has its own matching 3-piece ejector forend with Deeley release. Shotgun Barrels: Bore diameter : top .719, bottom-.719. bore restrictions: top .030 (full), bottom-.018 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-76", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Cast: approx 1/4 off. Weight : 6 lbs. 15oz. LOP 13-7/8". Rifle Barrels: Cast approx 1/4 off, Weight with scope: 9lbs. 4 oz. LOP: 13 7/8". Leupold Vari-X II 3x9 scope with crosshair reticle is in Buhler rings. Rifle is in excellent condition approx 95% blue on bbls.. Coin finish of action is slightly darkened, and silvered. Stocks retain most of their original finish. Bores are excellent, action is tight, mechanically excellent. Serial # 37668.
