For sale: A Merkel .500 Nitro Express Model 140AE. Nearly as-new. Bores are as-new, and the cocking lever mechanism remains extraordinarily stiff, demonstrating an absolute miniumn of use. Original owner probably fired the rifle several times, and no more. Rifle was almost certainly never hunted. Anson & Deeley boxlock system with a Greener crossbolt and intercepting sears. 3' chambers. Nitro express proof. Automatic ejectors. LOP is 15 1/4 in (front trigger) and 14 1/8 (rear trigger). 23 1/2 in barrels and 40 3/4 in overall length. Weight of 11 lbs. Stock drop is 2 1/2 in and stock comb is 2 3/8 in. Pachmeyer black recoil pad. Express 'V' sights for 25, 50 and 75 yards. Merkel factory base mount for a RMR or Trijicon-style optic. Upgraded class of wood; game scene engraved, coin finished receiver with a cape buffalo on the left side and lion on the right side with scroll engraving everywhere else. Tiny handling marks on the wood. Otherwise, pristine. Has original Merkel factory paperwork plus original warranty written by Jagd und Freizeit in Zwickau, Germany. Includes a copy of the original regulation target, regulated with Norma 570-grain .500 Nitro Express ammunition. Imported from Germany December 2025.
