Description:
Following World War II, many of Remington's pre-war firearms resumed production. This created a dilemma for the company as it had produced martial arms during the war. Production of military arms had forced manufacturers to streamline production and use more economical methods and materials that were not adaptable to most earlier designs. Remington set about creating families of firearms that shared a common design and parts. This trend began with the Model 11-48 and continues to this day. The Model 870 and 1100 shotguns share a similar construction, styling, and many parts with the Model 760 and 740 rifles.

Enter the Remington Pump Action Rifles, best known as hunter's guns: for more than 50 years! With a reliability that was lengendary. In 1943, Charles Krum Davis, president and CEO of Remington rebooted the design
team on the "New"  pump action model project. By late 1950, the Remington "Gamemaster" was born and put into the final design stages and by late 1951 with the introduction in their 1952 Consumer catalog;
production beginning immediately after in January of that year on their "New" Model"!
Enter the Model 760 Gamemaster Pump-Action Centerfire Rifle. Made by Remington Arms Company from 1952 until is end in 1981. The Model 760 replaced the Model 141 in the product lineup and
was fed using a box magazine system that freed the design to use more powerful rounds with spitzer bullets.
The pump has many advantages: It’s the fastest and easiest to use of the manually operated actions; it’s ambidextrous (although empty cases are ejected into the lefty shooter’s field of view); and the operation gives the pump the ability to use ammo loads of varying power that a semi-auto would fail to cycle.

Model 760 was a hughe success, with company sales surpassing all marketing predictions for 1952 with 63,735 rifles for first year produced.
