Description: Rare Nylon 76 .22 Lever Rifle from Collection of Remington VP Offered here for sale and just acquired is a SCARCE and DESIRABLE  near new Remington Nylon 76 .22 rifle obtained years ago from the estate of a Remington Vice President here in Connecticut just a few miles away from our retil operation in Southport. Many executives had homes in Connecticut with Remington Rand’s Corporate offices in Norwalk and Remington’s vast Union Metallic Cartridge (UNC) plant in Bridgeport, CT. The Remington Nylon 76 was produced only from 1962 to 1965 and is the only lever-action rifle ever made by Remington Arms. It was marketed as the “world’s fastest lever action” because of its very short lever throw — about 30°. The rifle is chambered in .22 Long Rifle (LR) and feeds from a 14-round tubular magazine in the stock. Physical & Mechanical Traits Caliber: .22 LR. Barrel: ~19.5″ (19 5/8″) with standard open iron sights. Action: Lever with a locked-breech design and short stroke. Magazine: 14-round internal tube accessed from the rear of the stock. Stock: Mohawk Brown Zytel nylon simulated woodgrain with checkering and white diamond inlays (typical on the brown version). Finish: Blued barrel and receiver cover. This combination of material and design was innovative for its era, part of Remington’s Nylon series which pioneered the use of DuPont Zytel nylon polymer stocks. Total production was relatively limited — about 26,927 rifles. This is the  Mohawk Brown version.  It is all original and appears unused. There are only a couple of very slight storage marks on the stock with no evidence of use wear . We would rate this 99%+ condition. Some of the images shown have some “glare” from lighting but all finish is evident. As the only lever-action ever made by Remington it represents mid-century innovation in materials and design (nylon stock). Its relatively short production span and limited numbers make superior examples elusive. Hansen and Hansen has acquired this prime example for the second time and are pleased to include documentation letter from denoting original ownership by the Remington Vice President in the 1960s.
