Description:
Antique Colt 1851 Navy with original holster. Please take the time to view all of the photos.. A very nice Colt 1851 Navy. Has the standard 7 1/2” barrel and .36 caliber cap and ball. S/N 200868 and all number matching but the wedge is number 90666 . The arbor pin is matching. This gun was made in early1867. No number on the rammer as is correct in this high S/N range. As you can see this ole 51 has some very nice bright deep blue on the under side of the barrel.  All the blue remains on the bottom 3 flats of the barrel and some nice blue on the sides of the barrel around the wedge area. Some traces of thinning blue remains on the top of the barrel mainly towards the front sight and the side flats of the barrel as well. This 51 Navy has the somewhat scarce original dovetail front sight. Not near as common as the pin front sights.. But not as rare as the blade front sights. Some case colors are showing on the flat sides of the rammer. Just traces of case colors remain on the sides of the frame around the protected areas around the recoil shield. All markings are excellent.. The cylinder still has 80% cylinder scene remaining with a spot of roughness at the S/N. {see photo }. The rest of the cylinder is clean. That is the only spot of roughness on the gun and probably laid in the holster a bit too long between cleanings. Two cylinder safety pins remain pretty much full and complete on the rear of the cylinder and portions of the other four are present. The cylinder nipples are in very good shape and pretty much full size and not smashed. The grips are very nice with no cracks or chips.. They show the most minor wear and some minor wear at the front toes as you can see.. No varnish remains. The mechanics are excellent.. This gun runs like a Swiss watch. The gun locks up crisp and tight as a new gun with NO cylinder side roll or play. The rammer is tight in the catch with no side play. Rock solid barrel to frame fit and a perfectly tight wedge.. The barrel still fits the frame and arbor pin so tight you have to use the rammer to push off the front of the cylinder to remove the barrel. The hammer notches are correct and hold perfectly on the half and full cock. The bore is very good for a percussion Colt revolver.. It shows very strong and deep rifling throughout with only minor roughness but no pig pits or craters.. The cylinder chambers show some minor surface crud but not pitted.. I have not cleaned or scrubbed the bore or chambers so I am sure they will clean up a little better. All of the screw heads are clean and sharp and not burred up but the right back strap screw is burred up. I might have a better one in my parts screw stock if I get a chance to replace it. The very early original antique double loop holster is included and the gun fits it like a glove.. It is also is about the same time period of post Civil War for civilian carry.. All of the stitching is tight and intact. Has some real nice border tooling on the body and the skirt. The top loop as you can see has had a glue repair but it is solid. Of course I can not say this holster was made for the 51 Navy but it is too big for the Pocket revolvers.. Way to small for the Colt 1860 and the Colt SAA so this does not leave much else to choose from. I know a 51 Navy has been in it for a very long time. This is a very nice set at an affordable price.. Way above average condition and much better than the no finish dirt brown guns you see out there all over the place.. This one will cost a little more than those but well worth the investment. $40 insured registered mail shipping.. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. Don't miss this one !!!!
