"Made circa 1855-1856. 31 Caliber with a 5" barrel. This is an unmarked Colt 1849 pocket revolver except for the scene on the cylinder. This gun has several unusual features detailed in the letter accompanying this gun written by noted Colt author and authority, R. L. Wilson. This is a prototype of some sort that made its way out of the Colt factory with all these unusual features. We have owned other prototypes from the Colt percussion era and this gun is very similar in construction to those. Very interesting gun for an advanced collector!
