Payment Types Accepted: Cash, Check, USPS Money Order Description: This Smith & Wesson single-action, top-break revolver is a five-shot revolver, with a nickel finish, 3½-inch barrel, fluted cylinder, ¼-inch-wide hammer with a serrated spur, ¼-inch-wide, serrated-faced spur trigger, original hard-rubber checkered grips, and fixed rear and front sights. There are no box, papers, or other accessories with this revolver. The gun was manufactured in the early 1880s. There are few markings on the gun. The top strap of the barrel is stamped in two lines – “SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS U.S.A. PAT’D JAN 21 & 24, 1865 JULY 11, 1865 AUG 24, 1869 REISSUE JULY 25, 1871”. These patent dates are continued on the rear of the top strap, above the cylinder – APRIL 20, 1875 JAN 20, 1877 DEC 18, 1877. Matching serial numbers are stamped in four places – (1) the butt of the grip, (2) the flat rear surface of the cylinder, (3) the underside of the barrel latch, (4) the end of the top strap (must raise the latch to see). Both grip panels are embossed at the top with “S&W”. The overall condition of this gun is about 98 percent, pretty good for a 140+ year old gun. It retains 100 percent of its original nickel finish. The cylinder has the usual cylinder-lock ring, but not through the nickel plate. The barrel is near perfect – 99 percent. The frame is also in excellent condition – 98 percent. There is one scratch on the right six of the frame, just below the hammer. The scratch, visible in the photos, is about ¼ inch across; it is not through the nickel plate. There is a rub on the right side of the top strap toward the rear end. The cylinder is also in excellent condition – 98 percent. The original grip panels are in excellent condition. The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details. Contact me for additional photos or even higher resolution versions the posted pictures. Buyer pays $25 USPS Priority mail and $6.85 insurance.
