Description:
Griffin & Howe 3/4" Rings, Weaver J2.5 Scope for Sale.

Please note: We took pictures of the scope and rings today.  We had to do outside to get the one photo of the view through the scope.  It was dark, cloudy, overcast, and raining here today.  So, at least you see the crosshairs through the scope and pointing toward the sky.  Additionally, when my friend was taking the pictures the windage turret loosened up a little, so that picture shows the crosshair off a bit.  I'll simply tighten it back up before I send it.  But, the buyer of the scope will have to make adjustments to the scope when it is one a rifle.

The scope and rings are in very good to fine condition.  There is a small corrosion mark on the Objective Bell of the scope.  However, with some Big 45 Frontier Metal Cleaner, that mark might all but disappear.

In all my years of collecting (about 25+ years of dealing with G&H guns), I have only seen 2 pair of G&H rings for sale.  And, I also saw the G&H Springfield that Mike Schwandt had for sale that had a Weaver scope on it and the 3/4" rings.

Years ago, Mike Schwandt had a G&H Springfield with 3/4" Rings and a Weaver scope.  It was a really nest set-up.  Bill Weaver actually really liked the 3/4" scopes, and continued them in production long after the 1" scopes were introduced.  In fact, when the J2.5 and J4 Series scopes were introduced, they were an "Updgrade" over previous 3/4" scopes offered by Weaver.  They were advertised as being able to withstand the recoil of a high powered rifle.

Again, these rings are rare.  The J2.5's were introduced in 1947, and they (consistent with the recoil of a high-powered rifle) had long eye relief as a result.  Many shooters in that era liked the smaller 3/4" scopes because they were lighter in weight.

The top and bottom screws for the rings are included.  See the pictures.

Griffin & Howe started using aluminum in their components in the later 1930's, consistent with the development of the metal in the aircraft industry due to it's light weight and strength.

This mount/scope set up would be perfect for any Post-War G&H gun, and would be totally "Period Correct."

I especially like the nuances of "unusual" accoutrements to G&H guns.  It just give them a distinctive uniqueness.
