Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are way proud to offer this fancy version of Winchester's famed single shot rifle, the 1885. This was the first commercial rifle designed by John Browning, and it ruled the American range for many years. This deluxe rifle was made in the year of our Lord 1886. She is in wonderful condition for being 140 years old. I truly believe that all finishes on this gun are original. The blue has drifted to a fairly even and pleasant patina, with silvering at the sharp edges. The XXX walnut is simply breathtaking, with a fairly flat finish and very good fit to the steel. I added some furniture oil just to temporarily bring out the grain for the photos. Both the stock and forend are fitted with ebony inserts, which was typical on the early deluxe guns. Case hardened receivers were also a hallmark of the early guns, with smoky remnants left on this rifle. The checkering also looks original and untouched. The stampings are clear and sharp, and the action is smooth and tight. Even the bore of the number 1 contour 26 inch octagonal barrel is good, with plenty of shine and strong rifling. The icing on the cake is that she is chambered in .32 Long rimfire, which is very unusual for this rifle. I have pictured the short, long, and extra long for your reference. The very well fitted Swiss butt plate is just darling, and adds to the strong profile of this pistol grip gun. While about 120 thousand of this model were made, it is difficult to find the deluxe version. These single shots are highly sought after, and command high prices when they hit the market. If you have been looking for the right Winchester 1885 to collect, for investment, or some old fashioned shooting, but want the added clout of a deluxe, then look no further.
