Description: Stevens Standard Model “Favorite” No. 17. Caliber 32 Long Rimfire. 22” part round/part octagon barrel; plain open sights (replacements.) Blued Barrel with case hardened frame and lever. Oil finished walnut stocks, shotgun style hard rubber butt plate. Barrel marked J. STEVENS A&T CO. CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. USA PAT. APR 17, 94. Serial # 355. Manufactured 1893-1939. Condition The rifle is mechanically functional and in fair condition cosmetically. The rifle retains zero amount of its original cade hardening and bluing. It has developed a brown patina consistent with age. There is minor manipulation to the screw heads found on the receiver and tang. The front bladed sight appears to be original; the rear sight is a period replacement (possibly handmade.) The bore is fair overall with visible lands and grooves but notable light pitting throughout. The walnut stock shows signs of heavy use (dings, nicks, wear) but no visible cracks or breaks. The hard rubber shotgun style butt plate has a crack through the center that has been stabilized with an adhesive. Enhancements The rifle appears to have been “enhanced” with the addition of brass tacks in the shape of an arrow – found on the right-hand side of the stock, and a small blue and red beaded fob/drop attached to the takedown screw ring. These enhancements are similar to adornments done in the 18th and 19th c. by Native Americans. However, we believe these to be later additions (quite possibly non-Native.) FFL REQUIRED.
