About Us: I am a private individual gradually selling off my collection. I prefer to sell each firearm myself instead of leaving it to the whims of an auuction. I will be listing rifles, shotguns, old, modern, some NIB, and some that are rare. In purchasing from me, you are dealing with the actual owner and not a dealer who has no familiarity with the firearm. I have owned these firearms for anywhere from a year and a half, to several decades. When purchasing from me, there will be no surprise needed repairs. Without my own FFL, I have to ship by US Postal. I ship Priority but they are very slow these days. Expect the firearm to be in transit for up to 2 weeks.

Description:
Not to be confused with the Model 1897. The 1893 uses 2 9/16” black powder shells. To preserve customer relations, with the 1893 and 1897 models coming out so close together, Winchester offered anyone bringing in their 1893 could have a new 1897, so there aren’t a lot of these around.  Low Serial #12609 places it at manufacture date of 1894. Has the uncommon 32” barrel. In bright borelight the bore still has some dull shine left to it, but I will honestly point out it has lots of pitting. I’ve put around 20 shells through it in the years I’ve had it, and have experienced no issues. The correct ammo can be purchased from Buffalo Arms. I can’t find a choke stamp, but most of these were Full. A previous owner has had a surface brushing applied to most of the metal, and then had it re-blued. As to the wood I believe it is original, it’s up to the viewer to decide. It has most likely been refinished. The left side of the foregrip has a long crack emanating from the fastening screw. There is an incredibly tight hairline one at the right side fastening screw that is so tight it is difficult to see or photograph. There are several handing marks in the foregrip. But all in all it is still solid and performing its function. The rear stock has a very fine and tight crack on either side of the grip area, which is common on the 1893 and 1897. But on this one they are far less significant than on most. There are some expected handling marks on the rear stock, but fewer than most examples, and only one has any notable size to it. The chamber shows excellent remaining bluing and mechanics. The action works easily and confidently, it loads and ejects shells as it should. All in all, for a 132 year old firearm, it still presents decently. If you are looking for one more pristine, it will obviously be higher in price. There is an interesting Larry Potterfield Midway USA video link I can provide that shows the value of these as 1500, and that was 14 years ago. My price is far more than reasonable. I took it out pheasant hunting last year, the funnest part of it was the shock and awe of the black powder blast and white smoke this one throws out, everyone noticed whenever I took a shot. You will want to have it inspected by a competent gunsmith,. as for me, I am old enough I don’t care. Besides the photos in the ad, I have 58 additional pics and even a short video clip of it in operation that I can present to a SERIOUS buyer. Terms are as per this Description section and our correspondence. Cash only if a Local sale. For local sale I will only sell to anyone who is verified to purchase a firearm so I would need to see either a FFL, or Neb. Firearm Purchase Certificate, and ID with either, just like it's done at the auuctions/shows. Concealed Carry Permit works as well. Despite possibly classified as an antique, I will only ship to an FFL. You and your receiving FFL can work out if it needs to be transferred. If you do not have your own FFL you must contact your FFL provider and ensure that they will accept firearms that come from a private individual like me that does not have an FFL. I will provide them a copy of my ID. I will also need contact info for your receiving FFL so that I can arrange shipping with them. If I'm shipping the firearm, payment for the firearm and shipping combined is by Bank Cashier's Check ONLY. Shipping is to only the lower 48 and due to the extra length of this firearm, is a flat fee of 80 dollars.
