Description:
Fine Vintage Hopkins & Allen Model 925 .25RF Falling Block Rifle C.1900-1914
Offered here for sale and just acquired is a fine vintage Hopkins & Allen falling block rifle with 24" barrel. A takedown model. Serial number 33316.
Hopkins & Allen Arms Company was an American firearms manufacturer in Norwich, Connecticut, that made rifles, shotguns, and revolvers from the late 19th century until about 1915–1917 when the firm went bankrupt .
Hopkins & Allen produced single-shot falling-block rifles from roughly the late 1880s into the early 1900s. Early falling block designs were made starting around 1888, and later versions continued into the early 20th century .
Hopkins & Allen introduced its falling-block tabletop rifles circa 1888–1890. Later models were catalogued and sold in the early 1900s, perhaps up through around 1914–1915 when production essentially ended.
It is estimated that this rifle was manufactured most likely in the first decade or so of the 1900s. The style of blued barrel with early checkering and crescent buttstock fits the period when Hopkins & Allen was actively selling sporting rifles to the general public, roughly 1900–1914.
Early fine hand cut checkering on grip and forearm. Crescent buttstock with original steel buttplate. The barrel retains the large majority of its original blued finish with a small amount of "evaporation" of blue on left side of barrel. Stock in excellent condition. Appears to be chambered for the .25RF rimfire caliber cartridge. Original steel buttplate only has a small patch of fine "pin prick" patina on its heel. Vibrant case colors also remain on receiver. Excellent early Hopkins & Allen collectible.
