An Early, & Scarce U.S. Civil War Military Issued Colt Alteration Of A Model 1841 Harpers Ferry Mississippi Rifle With Saber Bayonet Lug Dated 1850 In Very Good Untouched Condition. All original and complete including the sight. The rifle has very good metal & markings throughout. Dated 1850 on the lock and barrel. The barrel, lock, & hammer are very good throughout with nice markings. There is a natural darkening patina on both of them. All of the brass hardware on the gun is fine throughout with a wonderful mellow color to it. The wood is nice throughout showing natural light wear throughout it. There is a light but visible "U.S. Inspectors Cartouche" on the backside. The gun has a very good action and bore in it. It is in .58 Caliber, and has the correct saber bayonet lug on the barrel. This Is An Untouched Example Of An Early, & Scarce U.S. Civil War Military Issued Colt Alteration Of A Model 1841 Harpers Ferry Mississippi Rifle Dated 1850 With A Saber Bayonet Lug!. !
