These were made after the Civil War out of the thousands of muskets made obsolete by the advent af dependable cartridges. William Fetterman would have loved to have these back in the winter of 1866 when he went over Lodge Trail Ridge. Full 40 inch barrel, .50-70 cartrudge, single shot breechloader. Bore is very good and the action works fine. I haven't shot this one but will be glad to do so for a serious buyer if he so chooses. Stock and metal work are all sound and all there but show their age (160 years).
