Description:
General Specs: Francotte, Late 1950’s, .300 H&H Flanged Magnum, 8lbs.12oz., LOP 14 3/8", DAH 2 3/4", DAC 1 5/8"
Serial Number:  90213

As did many European gunmakers, Francotte got its start making military firearms.  As time went on, they turned their talent and traditional gunmaking methods to the production of fine sporting arms.  Each gun was crafted to the unique requirements of its owner, who could specify the type of action, caliber or gauge, style and length of barrels and any number of options and embellishments.  This Holland & Holland-style sidelock with reinforced action, gold-line cocking indicators, intercepting sears, concealed third fastener, and bushed firing pins, was built for incredible strength and reliability, necessary for hunting dangerous game on safari.  Continuing with reliability and strength in mind, the top tang extends over the comb, and the bottom tang extends to the engraved steel trapdoor pistol grip cap, ensuring that the gorgeous highly figured walnut stock is not damaged under the recoil of the stout .300 H&H Flanged Magnum.  This double rifle has 24 3/4” chopper lump barrels with mirrored bores, sharp rifling and 99% factory blue, a hand-filed quarter rib, 1 standing and 1 folding express sight give balance and quick point-ability to this sturdy firearm.  Sight acquisition is effortless as you pull the gun to your shoulder.  The frame and sidelocks are decorated with fine scroll and game-scene engraving by R. Smeets.  The deep, rich case color hardening is held at 99%, as well.  The case hardened articulated front trigger to the leather covered pad measures 14 3/8” length of pull.  The splinter forend with Anson pushbutton release, exhibits point pattern checkering with a double border.  That same pattern of checkering is continued on the pistol grip butt stock, with tear drops, a beaded pancake cheekpiece with shadow line, and an inset gold oval ready for your initials!  The rifle comes is presented in its Brady-type leather-trimmed canvas trunk case, with snap caps and oil bottle.  Please take your time reviewing the detailed photos and specifications below to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of this potent double gun.
