Description:
From my own personal collection, I've decided to sell this lovely little Francotte 16 gauge sidelock.  It is relatively easy to find a nice small bore Francotte boxlock on the market but finding a small bore sidelock from them is another story.  I've owned this gun for many years and I Grouse hunted with it in Wisconsin for a few years.  Along came another "perfect" Grouse gun and it was set into the rack only to be shot maybe once a year for a round of skeet.  I've decided it is time to let someone else enjoy this beautiful little gun.  If you were to built the perfect upland gun this very well might tick all of the boxes.  The gun has 28 inch barrels (actually measure 27 3/4"), with bores of .668 and .669 and .008 (Improved cylinder) and .024 (improved modified) chokes, and 2 3/4 inch chambers.  A straight English stock with dimensions of 1 7/16 X 2 1/4 X 14 1/2 over the original checkered butt and cast off for the right hand shooter.  A splinter forend with an Anson push button release.  Of course double triggers with the front ariculated.  Selective ejectors and non-automatic safety.  This little gun has some of the finest Rose and Scroll engraving you will find covering at least 90 percent of the frame.  And last but not least, a great weight of 6 pounds 2 ounces with perfect balance.  In doing my research on this gun I found that it was sold by J.J. Kool who was a high end firearm dealer in Rotterdam, Netherlands who was active from 1901 through the late 1930's.  They specialized in Francotte guns and other high end guns from Europe.  Their name is on the top of the barrels along with the words Fair Four which refers to a double barrel firearm.  This gun is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips and it is just as I purchased it at least 20 years ago.  You will find only the lightest of marks on the stock and slight wear on the right barrel near the breech.  Have a close look at the attached photos and I believe you will agree it is a lovely little gun.  Price of the gun is $9500 plus $75 shipping to your FFL.  As always there is a three day non-firing inspection period with the buyer paying shipping charges if returned.
