For sale is a Colt Army Special chambered in .38 Special with a 6-inch barrel, a classic double-action revolver manufactured in 1922 during a formative period of American firearms history. Introduced in the early 20th century, the Army Special was Colt’s answer to the growing demand for a robust, accurate service revolver suitable for military, law enforcement, and civilian use. Built on Colt’s strong medium-frame action, the Army Special would later evolve into the legendary Colt Official Police, cementing its place as a cornerstone in Colt’s revolver lineage.

Cosmetically, the revolver rates approximately 90%. The bluing remains exceptionally well preserved for a firearm over a century old, with no notable wear or patina aside from minor finish wear at the point where the cylinder locks into the frame, a common and expected result of normal cylinder operation. Overall, the finish presents clean and consistent, reflecting careful ownership and limited handling.
Mechanically, the revolver rates an excellent 95%. The hammer and trigger function exactly as intended, exhibiting the smooth double-action and crisp single-action pull for which Colt revolvers of this era are renowned. The bore is bright and shiny with little to no visible wear, an impressive characteristic for a revolver of this vintage.
