The Remington Model 740 was manufactured beginning in 1955 until it was replaced by the Model 742 in 1960. The serial number on this example places it just about in the middle of the production run. It's in good shape, with some light wear on the blue steel and on the stock. The action is smooth and the bore is bright. It comes with one magazine, but no box or case. .30-06 Springfield
