At the time of manufacture, the Imperial Premier cost more than contemporary Boss, Purdey, and Holland & Holland shotguns, and was reserved for Scott’s most discerning clientele. Description & Features
Elaborate, deeply chiseled game scene and oak leaf engraving of the highest standard, executed across the lockplates, action body, top rib, and barrels—work fully commensurate with the Imperial Premier designation. Monogram & Attribution Engraved on the lockplates, top rib, and gold stock shield are the initials “JSP.” These initials are believed to possibly correspond to John Shaffer Phipps (1874–1958), a prominent American industrial heir and gentleman sportsman active in transatlantic shooting circles during the Edwardian period and born into the Carnegie–Phipps steel fortune. There is no surviving provenance to conclusively document his ownership; this attribution is offered as informed historical context only. Case
