Description:
General Specs: Fox, 1914, 20 Gauge, 6/bs. 6oz., Chokes M/XF, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 3 1/4", DAC 1 11/16"
Serial Number:  200509

Many reading this ad regularly scour the internet for Fox shotguns.  One thing is certain; the availability of graded 20 gauge Fox shotguns has dwindled in recent years.  Shooter/collectors have come to recognize that Fox 20ga. guns are the most well-balanced, lightest weight, best handling guns of all the vintage American doubles.  They made just 2400 A Grade 20ga.  This Philly Fox, serial number 200509, was built in 1914, and has all the features you’d want in a late season upland bird gun.  A joy to carry at only 6 pounds 6 ounces; the handsome gun is light, but sturdy.  The 28” Krupp Fluid Steel barrels retain 97% of their factory blue, mirror bores, a concave rib with a small area of wear at the breech, a front silver bead, and chokes set to reach out and put down birds with authority.  The classic A grade engraving on the boxlock action is still sharp with the little catches of the engraver’s tools, and 75% factory case color.  The action is tight on hinge and tight on face and locks up with the lever landing well right of center.  The oil finish of the stock and forearm shows the light field wear of an honest gun, and a factory finish that our gunsmiths have touched up and refreshed in spots but not refinished.  The checkering is very nice, with its point pattern and double borders.  With over 110 years under its belt, this dandy shotgun is ready for more time in the field.  Please take your time enjoying the detailed photos and specifications.  Enjoy!
