This Winchester was produced in 1898. The rifle's serial number is 98994. The rifle's chambering is for the 38 W.C.F. [38-40]. The factory letter states that this rifle was shipped on August 13 1898. This octagon barrel has a very fine bright bore. The sights are original to this Winchester. The action works great with no issues. The original bluing on the barrel and magazine tube would rate a 96% or better condition The receiver bluing would rate a 85% faded bluing or better. The lever and hammer show traces of the color cased finish. The stock and forend have no cracks or repairs. The original factory finish on the wood is almost all intact. There is a remnant of a old screw for a sling about 1 3/4 inch up from the stock toe. This rifle has nice looking wood on this rifle! This is a really nice antique Winchester with a letter and with a very fine bore and pretty wood. This rifle would be a nice addition to any collection!
