Description:
This is a nice big military sized pistol. Retains a pleasing untouched dark patina with some old rust and pitting. Does not appear to be marked aside from G-8 hand engraved into the rear of the trigger guard tang. Approximately .78 caliber. Circa 1740. Original flint. Some relief carving on the stock. There is a crack in the wrist that is pretty solid but might want to be further stabliized. 11 1/8 inch barrel is octagon at the breech and round at the muzzle. Iron mounted.Lock works well. Brass front sight. Interesting iron band on the bottom of the stock towards the muzzle, similar to the brass band on the Harpers Ferry 1805 pistols. Roughly 18 1/2 inches long overall. Came out of an old house in Pennsylvania. A super piece of history that was most likely here and fought during the American Revolution!
