This is a two line Hartford address Colt Pocket Model 1849 revolver manufactured in 1862 with the scarce 6 shot cylinder. The Civil War gun is in very good condition retaining about 15-20% of the original blue on the barrel with the balance faded to gray brown with silvering on the high edges and crisp two line address marking on the top facet. The address shows the broken die for the "L" in Colt and appears as "COIT" which is correct for this serial number range according to Jordan & Watt in Colt's Pocket '49. The frame, hammer, and lever are a pleasing pewter-gray. The cylinder which is correctly numbered to the gun features the Wagon Scene is pewter-gray with very fine detail with some light surface nicks. The gripstraps have retained about 65-70% of their original silver finish with some flaking that exposes the yellow-ochre underlying metal. The grips are solid with light use marks and old surface level contusions and wear along the bottom edges. The action functions properly with tight lock up and smooth action. A very good example of a desirable six shot Civil War Pocket '49. Antique. Price: $1,795.00 Antique: Yes |
