Description:
For Sale: Smith & Wesson Model 29-3 “Elmer Keith Edition” – .44 Magnum, 1985 Production, Factory New in Presentation Case
Up for sale is a truly exceptional revolver that blends historical significance, premium craftsmanship, and collector-grade preservation: a Smith & Wesson Model 29-3 Elmer Keith Edition, chambered in the iconic .44 Magnum and made in the USA in 1985. This is not just another Model 29 it's a tribute to the man who helped create the magnum era itself.
This special edition features a 4" barrel, giving it a stout, authoritative profile while maintaining excellent balance and handling. It sits perfectly between portability and presence, offering the unmistakable heft of the N-frame without being cumbersome. The bluing is deep and flawlessly polished, showcasing that classic mirror-like finish that Smith & Wesson perfected through the 70s and 80s. Every edge, every bevel, and every rollmark displays crisp attention to detail.
As a commemorative model honoring Elmer Keith, the revolver includes unique engravings and special markings that distinguish it from standard production guns. These accents celebrate Keith’s influence on revolver development, his pioneering work with heavy-loaded .44 cartridges, and his contribution to what would ultimately become the .44 Magnum a legacy that still echoes across the shooting world.
This particular example is new in its factory presentation case, complete with the original key, velvet-lined interior, and factory literature. The case alone exudes collector appeal, with its rich wood grain and period-correct styling, making the revolver feel like a museum piece from the moment it’s opened. The revolver still presents exactly as it did when it left the factory no cylinder line, no holster wear, no handling marks preserved in pristine condition for nearly four decades.
