Description:
1894 .25-35 SADDLE RING CARBINE, #196XXX, MADE 1903. Nice, honest example that does not appear messed with or “improved upon.” The receiver shows good blue in the more protected areas- around the saddle ring, front and rear areas of the side panels etc. with the balance naturally turning plum and brown from age. Normal edge wear, fine screw heads. Barrel and magazine show fine blue with a little more aging of the blue on the barrel, but still good. Fitted with a folding two leaf express rear sight and carbine front sight. Tight action, strong safety half-cock, bore a little dark with strong rifling all the way through. Would benefit from a good brushing/scrubbing- I ran a couple of oil patches through it and they came out fairly black (not brown from rust). Fine walnut stock and forend showing normal light handling with tight wood to metal fit. In all, a handsome 123 year old ‘94 saddle gun in a desirable caliber.
