Description:
"This elegant English-made Mexican Paget flintlock carbine is circa late 18th century. It weighs in at a slim 4.5 pounds. The overall length is 42.5"". The 26.5"" round 48 caliber smooth bore barrel has a fine bore with the original reaming marks clearly visible. The barrel and lock have a smooth brown patina. The barrel has simple floral decorations from 1.5' forward of the breech plug to 7.5"" forward. The English military lock has the crown over GR with the crown broad arrow forward of that and TOWER behind the hammer toward the tail. The brass nose cap, thimbles, triggerguard, sideplate, and buttplate are fine. It is equipped with a 5.75"" sling bar and ring on the left side. The stock is fine with light wear, an old crack repair at the butt on the left and a repaired crack from the front of the lock up to the barrel. The ramrod is present. With the exception that the hammer can be released with a trigger pull at half cock, the action functions correctly. If you collect unusual flintlock carbines or Mexican long arms this nice little carbine would be a great fit in your collection.
