Offered here is an exceptionally rare and highly collectible Winchester Model 12 16 gauge pump shotgun, distinguished by its factory “STAINLESS STEEL” marked barrel a short?lived special order option that was produced in limited numbers during the late 1920s and early 1930s.
Serial number 604278 places this shotgun in circa 1927, making it a true pre war classic from the golden era of Winchester shotgun manufacturing.
This is a genuine smoothbore shotgun in Model 12 form (as designed), featuring a 28 inch barrel marked “STAINLESS STEEL” and choked MODIFIED, a configuration well suited for a variety of field pursuits. Winchester’s early stainless steel barrels, while not bright like modern stainless, were engineered for enhanced corrosion resistance particularly in damp or salt air environments and were rarely ordered and even more rarely preserved.
