Description:
Winchester’s Model 42 is widely regarded as the finest pump action shotgun ever produced in .410 bore, built with the same forged steel receiver and internal quality standards as the larger Model 12. Introduced in 1933, the Model 42 quickly earned a reputation as a premium small bore repeater for upland hunting and clay target shooting, and today stands as one of the most collectible American pump shotguns.

This example features a 26 inch barrel chambered for 3 inch .410 shells and is choke marked CYL (Cylinder). Cylinder?choked Model 42s were produced in smaller numbers than the more common Full and Modified choke guns, making this configuration desirable to both collectors and shooters seeking a classic small bore field gun. The gun is fitted with the correct ribless barrel, brass front bead, and traditional corncob style forearm.
The walnut pistol grip stock retains its original Winchester buttplate and shows only light, honest handling marks consistent with careful use over the decades. Metal surfaces remain in excellent condition with original blue finish present, showing only minor edge wear in high contact areas. The bore is bright and clean, free from pitting or frosting.
Mechanically, the shotgun functions exactly as it should. The action is smooth, the lockup is solid, and the overall feel reflects the high level of fit and finish Winchester was known for during this era of production.
