Description:
Offered here is a classic Winchester Model 42 chambered in .410 bore with a 26 inch barrel, manufactured circa 1956. The barrel is marked Improved Cylinder and features the desirable ribless field configuration with a brass bead front sight. This example remains in excellent overall condition with only light, honest handling marks consistent with careful use. The original blued finish shows minor edge thinning in high contact areas, but retains strong overall appearance. The bore is bright, clean, and free from pitting or frosting. Mechanically, the shotgun is excellent.

The Model 42 is widely regarded as the finest pump action .410 ever produced in America. Built on its own scaled frame rather than a modified 20 gauge action, the Model 42 offers superior balance, reliability, and handling. These shotguns were produced from 1933 to 1963, with later examples such as this one benefiting from post war machining quality and refined finishing standards. Collectors and shooters alike value the Model 42 for its smooth action, durability, and iconic place in American sporting arms history.
