Description:
General Specs: W. Foerster, Unknown Year, 12 Gauge, 6lbs. 11oz. Chokes LM/M, LOP 13 3/4", DAH 2 9/16", DAC 1 5/8"
Serial Number:  1856

Wilhelm Foerster called himself Gun Maker to the Court, and when you see the quality, craftsmanship, and precision that went into this beautiful side by side, you can believe he stood up to that moniker.   The plum color of the barrels compliments the gun well, with its lacquered, case color hardened receiver, walnut stock, and handsome dark leather pad.  The precision of the metalwork is exactly what you’d expect from an elite German maker.  Oak branches, leaves and acorns cover the receiver, sidelock, top tang, and trigger guard.  The Top leaver has a woodcock inlayed with gold, and the SICHER (Safe) mark is also in gold, on the top tang.  A playful detail by the engraver – little arrows on the cocking indicators in the sidelocks.  The color, wavy, tight grain, and fiddleback of the buttstock add a richness to the look of this fine firearm.  The gun feels sturdy in your hands, but the actual weight, coming in at 6 pounds 11 ounces, is very manageable for a day in the field.  The balance, a ¼” behind the pin brings the 26” barrels up quick to their target.  Quality, beauty, and confidence are some of the descriptors that come to mind when I pull this gun off the showroom rack.  When you view the photos, take special notice of the precise fit of the trigger plate into the receiver; it is almost invisible.  Enjoy!
