Description: Colt Revolving Shotgun Model of 1859 in .60 bore (20 gauge) with a 31" smooth bore barrel. This is a five shot sidehammar revolving percussion shotgun with a November 24th, 1857 patent date and a serial number of 1973. The metal exhibits a uniform silver patina with diffuse superficial pitting commensurate with age. It does not appear to have been worked on or altered in any way. Mechanical function appears to be intact however I would not be inclined to shoot it. The stock and forend exhibit no cracks or repairs. The forend tip is non-ferrous, possibly pewter. The trap butt contains the tip of a cleaning rod. I have no idea if this is original to the gun or not. These guns were produced circa 1860-1868 and are the rarest of the Colt long arms. Approximately 1100 were produced with the large majority being 10 Gauge. This gun is a true survivor! Price: $7,800.00 |
