Description:
I am selling this antique Winchester 1886 rifle in .40-65 caliber. The first number of the serial number is a "5" followed by a very, very light "8" and then "227" which puts this rifle being made in 1891. The "8" is very light and incredibly hard to see. The heavy octogon barrel measures 27.25". The wood is in very good condition but it looks to me that the stock was replaced. The barrel rifling doesn't look very good and I have not tried to run any brushes down it. The barrel shows decent bluing but the receiver's finish is pretty much worn to bare metal. I have attempted to take good quality photos of this rifle so that you can be confident on what it looks like in your hands. This is an antique so it can be mailed directly to your door. Starline does offer brand new brass in .40-65 which is a good thing because I've never seen the caliber before. If you have any questions PLEASE CALL ME as I don't check my emails very often.
