This is a very handsome rifle that retains 90-92% of the original blue finish on the barrel, receiver, and lock, with gray fading at the muzzle from bayonet, silvering along the edges and projections, and scattered areas of mild surface freckling here and there. The breechblock has retained a commensurate amount of the original, still quite bright color case-hardening, with mild fading on the projections. The walnut stock is in very good shape with numerous small handling marks and minor surface blemishes scattered throughout. There is an old armory repair to the wood to the left of the barrel tang, and the "SWP / 1893" inspector cartouche is still clear and legible. The buttplate has a mottled gray patina, and a Model 1907 style leather sling is installed. The sling is fully serviceable, and the leather is still quite supple with only minor crazing and wear. This is a very good-near fine Cadet Trapdoor, and would make a great addition to a collection. Antique; Price: $1,595.00 Antique: Yes |
