THE MODEL 1842 WAS FIRST PERCUSSION MILITARY MUSKET MADE BY SPRINGFIELD & HARPERS FERRY. IT IS IN VERY GOOD TO FINE CONDITION OVERALL. 42" BARREL, SMOOTH BRIGHT BORE. BRIGHT METAL SURFACES WITH SOME SCATTERED STAINS ON THE 1844 DATED LOCK PLATE & BARREL REAR OF THE FIRST BAND. 1842 & 34 G STAMPED ON TANG (34th REGIMENT COMPANY G) ? WITH CRISP VP EAGLE ON BARREL. BUTT PLATE MARKED U.S WITH OXIDATION STAINS. STOCK IS IN VERY GOOD TO FINE CONDITION, NO CRACKS, FAINT CARTOUCH, FEW MINOR HANDLING or USE MARS, "MAX" STAMPED ON RIGHT SIDE OF BUTTSTOCK. ORIGINAL RAMROD AND CHANNEL ARE EXCELLENT. LOCK IS CRISP & ROBUST WITH 2 CLICK HAMMER. A RATHER NICE EXAMPLE AT A VERY FAIR PRICE FOR YOUR COLLECTION or SHOOTING PLEASURE, AS PICTURED.
