Description:
Modified Greener Mark III Police Gun Martini action shotgun. 12 gauge, 18” round to octagon barrel. Barrel stamped Greener Mark III along with standard British proof markings. The shotgun features a wood stock with steel hardware including receiver, trigger guard, hammer, lever, buttstock and single sling mount. The buttstock contains a hinged compartment for ammo or cleaning rod storage.
The shotgun is mechanically functioning. The Martini action along with safety levers function accordingly. Cosmetically, the gun is in fair condition. The receiver retains 45% of its original blueing. The barrel retains 95% of the original blueing but appears to have been cut down in length. The forestock has also been modified (originally it would have featured a barrel length full stock.) There is one area near the grip, where the wood has been professionally repaired. The bore has not been visually inspected (requires a borescope.)
The police shotgun has been enhanced with a series of brass tacks as well as a beaded feather drop. These are believed to be later additions added to the shotgun to enhance the visual appearance. Most Greener Mark III Police Guns were used to supply the Egyptian Police force. However this particular shotgun is marked as a standard 12 gauge with 2 7/8 ths inch shells. These guns were marketed in the United States for security guards and corrections applications. The Native American adornments seem an odd match and unoriginal to this vintage shotgun.
