GONCALO ALVES (Astronium Graveolens) is a very hard, dense & fancy tropical wood with incredible black stripes.
It is a species of Tigerwood. The wood has beautiful colors that range from red to yellow & orange.
The black stripes can be so pronounced that the wood resembles black ebony.
Goncalo with a sliver of sapwood shows brilliant reds, oranges & yellows, along with black figuring.
The diverse colors & bright contrast make Goncalo one of the most sought-after woods in the world.
NO TWO PAIR OF GRIPS ARE THE SAME.
EACH WILL HAVE BEAUTIFULLY FIGURED GRAIN, BUT WILL DIFFER SLIGHTLY FROM OTHERS.

The Ruger Vaquero made from 1972-2004 is the XR3-RED Model.
This is easily determined as XR3-RED is stamped in the grip frame under the grips.
