ACTION/MACHANICALLY: These too are Perfect, with a smooth as silk action that the Model 1917 is famous for! This very high % of finish rating also extends to its 1918 absolutely Factory Matching original barrel that is perfectly, deeply and crisply marked/dated ‘’R over ORDNANCE FLAMING BOMB over 4-18’’ on its top just to the rear of the ‘’R’’ marked front sight assembly that amazingly retains appx 98% or better of its superb deep, rich Factory ‘’Blued’’ Metal finish! The stock is perfectly marked with a deep, crisp ‘’EAGLE HEAD over 339’’ Proof on its lower forearm just in front of the trigger housing and also with what appears to be a small ‘’3-M-K’’ in a Rectangular Box on the left side above the trigger. At one time this stock came off of a VFW display rifle which explains the sets superb condition and is ever so slightly and lightly marked with a small straight pin tip with ‘’1364 VFW’’ inside the finger groove machined area on the left forearm. This is Very easily removed with steel wool or light sandpaper if desired. The stock has its butt plate and screws and rear sling swivel that are serviceable, but an up-grade here would be very well worthwhile. To the best of our assessment: The only other very minor parts one would need to make a real ‘’knock out’’ actual WWI Manufactured, WWI used and very Historical April 1918 Remington Model 1917 Enfield Rifle totally complete, would be simply the Front Bands/Bayonet Lug Band or a few other, but very minor parts. With simply all the above, this Rifles value would easily be in the $2000+ Range and a truly very easy in-expensive Minor Winter Project!
