It is equipped with a small German silver blade front sight and Winchester’s 32 Special rear sight. It has standard walnut stocks and a crescent butt plate and fore stock end cap. Condition: The overall condition of this Winchester 1894 rifle is fine. The barrel and magazine retain about 95% original blue, appearing stronger under ambient light, with light muzzle wear, a few spots of light pitting, and very fine freckling scattered through, easily missed except under bright light. The magazine hanger and fore end cap have toned a gray patina with remnants of original blue, the fore end cap showing general oxidation staining. The receiver retains about 75-80% original blue with light high edge wear and fine flaking to brown, the loss greatest towards the front, and the lever and hammer exhibit wonderful vibrant case-hardened colors with light oxidation staining and the loop toning to a gray case-hardened patina. The smooth straight grip walnut stock and fore end are in very fine to near excellent condition as lightly cleaned with an older added oil finish. The stocks show a few light handling marks and remnants of old dings from use. There is a 2 3/4” hairline crack just below the right wood line of the fore end that is minor and easily missed. The stock is a bit shy of the metal in some spots. The crescent steel butt plate shows mellow case color with some light oxidation staining speckled throughout. The two-line barrel address, model marking on the tang, and other factory markings are strong and clear. The screw slots are in good shape with only the tang screw exhibiting the beginnings of slot wear. The rifle is sighted with a small German silver blade front sight and Winchester’s 32 Special rear sight. The bore is bright, about fine plus ranking about 8 on a scale of 1-10. It has strong rifling with some very fine pinprick pitting lightly scattered throughout. This rifle cycles strong and has excellent lock up. This is a really nice 121 year old Winchester 1894 that can easily be put back to work.
