Metal has turned to a dull grey patina with heavy oxidation noted by the bolster. The lock plate is marked “114", this number is also found on the underside of the barrel tang, and on the back of both barrel tangs. It is noted that this type of musket was used by the Kentucky Orphan Brigade and were serial numbered just below 500. A later on added “CSA" is stamped on the left side.
