Description:
Early Model COLT 1902 Sporting auto pistol 38 acp
Mfg'd 1904 serial number 7528 - early as starting serial number for the Sportings was 4274.
Continuation of serial numbers from the Model 1900 #1 to #4273, and virtually the same as the 1900.
Takedown access through lower small hole in the frame about 1" from the muzzle - just like the Model 1900.
One of only 6900 Sporting models manufactured.
Hard rubber original grips. Right has 1/4" slight scrape near rampant Colt. Excellent brass escutcheons and unboogered fire blue screws.
Frame is original blue and very very nice, case colors and fire blue are excellent.
Slide has been professionally reblued with all markings preserved and very well legible.
Slightly altered front sight to make seem like a bead when sighting and less blade like.
Forward plunge milled serrations as were the first 3000 produced from about #4274 to #8000
2 line slide markings which started about this serial number transitioning from the 3 line: only about 2500 were marked with the 3 line from about serial #5000 to #7500
Round hammer which were used only on the odd serial numbered pistols only from #4274 to # 7000, and then afterwards.
