Early Model COLT 1902 Sporting auto pistol 38 acp
Mfg'd 1903 serial number 6687 - early as starting serial number for the Sportings was 4274.
Continuation of serial numbers from the Model 1900 #1 to #4273, and virtually the same as the 1900.
One of only 6900 Sporting models manufactured.
Dark patina finish.
Matching slide serialed #6687
To Takedown, access hole in the lower frame about 1" frome the muzzle. See paper clip.
Rare early varuaition in decent condition - very little blue but not abused.
Forward plunge milled serrations as were the first 3000 produced from about #4274 to #8000
3 line slide markings - rare onlly about 2500 were marked with the 3 line from about serial #5000 to #7500
Round hammer which were used only on the odd serial numbered pistols only from #4274 to # 7000
Rare original mag with patent dated base PAT'D SEPT 9, 1884
Great hard rubber original grips with good escutcheons and fire blue screws.
Scratched markings on forward grip strap: 1932119 NC

Functions as it should. I've fired it with 38auto. Advise against using 38 Super ammo.
