Browning Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle in 45-70
This is a Browning 1886 Rifle Grade 1 in 45-70 with a 26" full octagon barrel, a Beech-style combination front sight, a bubble-level in the rear dovetail, and a Marbles tang sight installed backwards ( so an adequate sight picture can be obtained). It has walnut stocks crescent rifle butt plate, the metal surfaces are finished in deep blue. The Browning Model 1886, is a reproduction of the original Winchester 1886 design that was a limited production in 1986 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1886 Winchester rifle. These were made by Miruko in Japan and the 1986 Grade 1 run were limited to 7000.
Condition:
The overall condition of this Browning 1886 rifle is very fine to excellent. The stocks are in fine condition with some light handling marks and nicks on the butt stock and fore stock either from use or storage (minor). The overall metal surfaces are excellent as well, rating about 97-98% of the original high polish blue. There are some handling marks with some light edge wear near the muzzle and some silvering primarily on the butt plate. The bore is in bright, excellent condition with sharp rifling throughout.
We like to offer these Browning 1886 rifles and carbines and we usually have a selection of these in stock. They are well made, without the rebounding hammers and tang safeties. In our opinion, they are as close as you can get to a modern version of the original Winchester 1886. Since they are made with modern steel they are capable of hard use in the field with full load 45-70 ammunition. This rifle with the tang sight and combination front sight, was set up for long range shooting and is ready to be put to work.
