Payment Types Accepted: check or money order Description: I am selling this for an elderly friend. His father bought this shotgun for him over 70 years ago. He has had it stored in a gun case since he was a teenager and said he only shot it a couple times. I'm not sure he shot it at all. This Model 24 20 gauge side by side shotgun was made in 1951, serial number 100570. These were made from 1939-1958. Only 116,200 were made in 12 gauge, 16 gauge and 20 gauge. The 20 gauge is considered more desirable since most were made in 12 and 16 gauges. The 20 gauges carry a premium value. These are all double trigger, striker fired guns. They have a 7/16 inch raised solid rib and a black walnut stock. This unusual shotgun has an original and more desirable hard plastic Winchester butt plate. No wear is on the butt plate since it does not ever appear to have been stored upright. It has a 26 inch barrel. Everything is absolutely original and you won't find a better condition Model 24 anywhere. This is about as near-mint as any used gun that I've seen. The stock and all metal is almost blemishless. I won't say it's perfect but I had to search for any flaws in the finish of the wood or metal. The bluing is excellent plus everywhere. The bores are pure mirror clean. I did lightly lubricate what I could and ran an oiled patch down the barrels. The action is very tight and seems to function fine. I did not shoot it. I also did not dis-assemble anything so I could leave the screws all factory new. I don't know how to determine the chokes on these barrels. Maybe Cylinder and Modified Choke. Not sure. It is marked 2 3/4 inch chamber. I tried to take good pictures. This definitely looks better in person. Any further pictures needed, let me know. Because of the unusual near mint condition, I am pricing this at $1600. This may even be low. Shipping additional depending on location. I am an FFL and need to send this to an FFL. Ask any questions and I'll do what I can to answer them. I have researched this and do not claim to be a shot gun expert. I did see where many people thought this was a clunky, low-level Winchester but they are collected to fill that Model 24 hole, especially in nicer condition. Price: $1,600.00 Shotgun Gauge: 20 Gauge |
