Payment Types Accepted: check or money order Description: I got this revolver from a friend to research and try to sell. I have never heard of these before but they were, apparently, quite popular at the end of the Nineteenth Century. This is a well used Hopkins + Allen Mfg. Co. Model XL No 3 revolver. It is supposed to be .32 Rimfire and has a Tear Drop Spur trigger. It is serial number Z2524 and is all matching. Made, best I can determine, in the 1870s. Has a 2 5/8 inch Octagonal barrel and a worn nickel finish. This revolver actually functions quite well, cylinder timing is good and trigger and hammer work well. The bore is very good with light pitting and good rifling. The interesting thing with this revolver is that the grips, both apparently original to this revolver and both numbered to the correct serial number, appear to be Ivory. Everything I have researched confirms that they are both Ivory. Since they are original to an 1870s gun, they are legal to sell. The Ivory grips have increased the price of this gun. These were evidently called suicide specials. Very popular in the late 1800s. Nice little antique revolver. No FFL registration is needed since it is antique. Price: $220.00 Antique: Yes Handgun Caliber: .32 Rimfire |
