Description: The Schofield was one of two revolvers chosen to outfit the ARMY during the latter part of the 1870s. The Single Action Army in .45 Colt is the more famous, mostly due to Hollywood movies. The Schofield, also a single action, and chambered in .45 S&W, was also fielded and highly preferred by the Cavalry as the top-break action allowed for faster reloads. This did create a logistics problem with two cartridges that were not interchangeable. Supply officers worked around it by supplying units with the shorter S&W which would fit either revolver. This one is technically a re-issue by S&W, but it has been manufactured from modern materials and to modern tolerances resulting in a much better handgun while retaining the look and feel of the original. .45 Schofield Price: $2,799.99 Antique: Yes Chambers: 6 rounds Metal Condition: LNIB.
